The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly skilled, passionate leader and visionary who can build upon the foundation of this YMCA. A committed board of volunteers and a dedicated staff of 20 full-time employees (5 direct reports to the CEO) and 96 part-time staff drive this $2.5 million association.
As our CEO, you'll be the architect of our mission: building a stronger Parkersburg by nurturing young minds, promoting healthy lifestyles, and fostering social responsibility. You will lead the Y towards a more vibrant and sustainable future, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
The successful candidate will also show an ability to create positive and strategic relationships with influential leaders and community members and leverage those relationships to enhance support for the Y mission. The CEO is expected to be the face of the organization, upholding the highest standards and values of the Y; able to maintain a culture of integrity, high ethical standards, accountability, and performance, creating a spirit of inclusiveness, mission and cause that reinforces, encourages, and promotes values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.

Position Description
The YMCA of Parkersburg Board of Directors seeks a skilled and experienced individual to promote a culture of excellence within the YMCA and enhance the image of the YMCA in the communities it serves. The CEO is responsible for the development, implementation and articulation of the mission, vision and goals of the YMCA. This involves building a culture that supports and retains outstanding staff and an active, diverse volunteer Board of Directors and its respective committees. The CEO is expected to be visible in the community and active in the development of meaningful community collaborations with other community organizations, public sector entities and businesses. The CEO should position the YMCA to be viewed in the community as a highly respected, charitable partner with a strong stake in solving community issues. In partnership with the board, the CEO is responsible for all areas of Operational management, fundraising, capital plans, strategic planning, budget development, organizational development, program development, marketing and the overall image of the YMCA.

Programs
Early Learning Program: Our Early Learning program serves children ages 2 to 4. Care is provided from 6:30 am - 6:00 pm each weekday.
Summer Camp: Camp begins the day Summer Break begins and runs all summer. Camp is held on weekdays from 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM. This program is for children ages 5 through 12 years old.
After-School Care: The YMCA of Parkersburg’s After-School Program serves Elementary and Middle School aged children. We offer care after-school until 6:00 PM at convenient school sites within Wood County. We also offer Out-of-School Care on most school holidays and snow days at the YMCA of Parkersburg.
Swim Lessons: Classes offered year-round for swimmers ages 6 months to adults of all skill levels. Lessons are taught in group settings and emphasize water safety, skill and stroke development.
Rock Steady Boxing: Rock Steady Boxing, a weekly class, gives people with Parkinson’s disease hope by improving their quality of life through a non-contact boxing-based fitness curriculum.
Middle School Archery: This program introduces archers to the joy of the sport recreationally. Participants learn range safety, respect of the sport, handling and care of equipment, proper shooting technique in an environment that fosters focus, improved accuracy with increased self-confidence. The program is funded by Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s Outdoor fund.
Pickleball: Clinics and open play are offered.
Gym Class Next Door: Gym Class is for K-12 students! All students are welcome including public school, private school, homeschool, virtual and distance learning students. Mondays & Tuesdays 12:00PM-1:30PM has instructor lead activities for all ages in either the Main Gym or Aerobics Gym, depending on the activity. Wednesdays & Thursdays are “free play” with no planned activities.
Toddler Volleyball: This program is for children ages three to five. Through fun & interactive activities the children are introduced to volleyball skills and movement!
Tae Kwon Do: Instructors from S. H. Kang's Tae Kwon Do work within everyone’s limitations and help them to attain their own personal best while promoting integrity, pride, loyalty, and discipline. Both children and adults are welcome, which allows many to make it an activity the whole family can do together.
Lifeguard Certification Courses: The YMCA offers American Red Cross Lifeguard training courses that are taught by a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor. The certification, which includes First Aid, CPR and AED training, is valid for two years upon completion and is accepted nationwide.
Fit30: Fit30 is a 30-minute Functional Interval Training class instructed by Piendel Training. It’s designed to adapt whatever fitness goal you would like to pursue with a small class size ratio of 1:10.

Qualifications
Minimum Criteria for Candidates:
- Accredited 4-year college degree.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
- Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
- Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
- Have the ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.
- A proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management in excess of $3M or more annually.
Preferred Criteria for Candidates:
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification.
- Fiscally sound business management approach.Strategic planning and Fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants.

Salary Range: $75,000-$95,000
