YMCA Celebrates 85 Years of National Gymnastics Championships

CINCINNATI, OH (June 22, 2023) — YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), the national resource office for the 2,600 YMCAs across the country, is proud to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the YMCA National Gymnastics Championship, June 21-25 in Cincinnati, OH. This event hosts approximately 1,700 athletes from across the country, ranging in age from 6 years old to 20 years old.

The first YMCA National Gymnastics Championship took place in 1938. Each year, Y-USA selects a local YMCA to host the event – this year it is the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. In addition to the competition, the event features an opening ceremony, parade of athletes and a senior reception to honor all graduating high school seniors and scholarship recipients.

In 2023, the opening ceremony will take place at the Heritage Bank Center (100 Broadway, Cincinnati, OH 45202) on Thursday, June 22, starting at 3:30 PM. This event will feature 1996 Olympic gold medalist, Shannon Miller, as the keynote speaker.
