a response to the crisis of racism
In recent years, the seemingly endless incidents of racist violence against individuals and communities of color across our country have forced us to reckon with a painful truth: systemic racism is alive and well in the United States. That realization has compelled us to become an anti-racist, multicultural organization – an organization that intentionally promotes inclusion in all aspects, ensures and sustains diverse representation in our leadership, and leads social change in our communities through anti-racist policies, words and actions.
To help support the Y on this journey, leaders from the Y’s African American CEOs Network and Asian Pacific Islander Leadership Network have hosted a series of virtual town halls to help participants unlearn systemic racism and hold brave spaces for dialogue and healing. Many of these events are open to the broader Y family and opportunities to participate will be highlighted on this page as they are available.
Since July 2020, attendees have heard from a host of knowledgeable, passionate and influential speakers on the devastating intergenerational impact of racism and the need for us to work to dismantle the systems designed to divide us and rebuild sustainable ones to achieve equity for all.
Below you will find anti-racism and equity resources and tools, as well as recordings from these events, to help us all consider and act on the role we can play, individually and collectively, to address the racism and racial inequities that affect us all each day.
