Job Description

The Shady Grove YMCA is currently seeking a highly motivated, mission-driven, team-oriented professional to provide leadership to programs and staff - specifically in the programmatic areas of preschool, youth and family/specialty programs, and teen programming.

The Sr. Program Director will build relationships with our staff, members, and community. This position will supervise several departments, including preschool, youth and family, and teens. The Sr. Program Director will ensure and support staff training and development, fiscal responsibility for assigned areas of operations, and program quality. Candidate will be responsible for planning activities, scheduling staff, and working in direct service. Additionally, this position will work closely with supervisor to coordinate new programs and initiatives to engage the community and members.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in related field is strongly preferred. Credentials must satisfy VA licensing requirements for site supervision. At least five years of related experience is required, with at least three years in a supervisory role. Previous experience in childcare or membership programming is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal abilities and flexible work style are necessary. Diplomacy, tact, and the ability to work with a variety of people, in a variety of situations are essential. Must be able to meet deadlines and manage interruptions and handle requests efficiently, successfully coach full-time and part-time staff, and have strong computer proficiency. Applicants must be able to work a varied schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
