The YNS Sharks Assistant Lead Site Coach will help bridge the transition of swimmers from swim lessons to pre-team swimmers and beyond to higher-level competitive training groups. All the while shaping their growth as people, athletes, and teammates and helping them strive to reach their full potential. 

The YMCA of the North Shore SHARKS is a YMCA/USA Swim Team North of Boston providing high-quality and comprehensive swim team experiences for youth throughout the North Shore of Boston.  We are a 4-site team with over 300 swimmers including,  competitive age group swimmers from age 5 -18 of varying levels, pre-competitive swimmers, and Masters Swimmers.

In this role, you will directly instruct the swim team athletes at various levels and develop their fundamentals, training strategies, and race strategies. On a regular day, you will manage curriculum development, lead structured swim team practices, coordinate and execute swim team competitions, and team meets, and partner with lead coaching staff and volunteers.  Additionally, you will ensure consistent and clear communication with all stakeholders while modeling relationship-building in all interactions and supporting the needs of multiple sites. 

To thrive in this role, you have proven leadership and supervisory skills and previous coaching experience with a thorough and demonstrable ability to advance swimmers through the foundations of competitive swimming. You should have strong relationship-building and communication skills to effectively build relationships with staff, swimmers, volunteers, and program participant parents and guardians.  Additionally, candidates should have knowledge and experience with YMCA and USA Swim teams.

Qualifications

Competitive Swimming Experience for a minimum of 4 years required as a Coach with Age Group Swimmers

Experience in Early Learning and Elementary Education and the ability to understand child growth, and development preferred

Ability to assess swimmers capabilities and develop training plans to meet the needs of individual swimmers

ASCA certifications and YMCA Competitive Aquatics certification preferred or acquired within 90 days of hire
