The Youth and Family Program Director will create, organize, market, deliver, manage and supervise all aspects of program offerings such as Kids Club, Summer Camp, Birthday Parties and other innovative Youth and Family Activities. They will also actively participate as a member of the branch leadership team, risk management, annual campaign and fiscal management.

  • Innovative program development skills with a focus on meeting community needs and demand
  • Previous camp or program work experience preferred
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings
Essential Functions
  • Develops, markets and manages innovative youth and family program offerings
  • Leads day to day operations of assigned departments and programs including but not limited to Kid’s Club, Parent’s Night Out, birthday parties, specialty summer camps, youth experience classes and special events
  • Hires, supervises and evaluates program staff
  • Develops an effective and mission-driven team focused on youth development
  • Creates a calendar of scheduled activities and developmentally appropriate center-based play for Kid’s Club
  • Monitors program delivery through regular observations with a focus on safety, quality and impact
  • Communicates and enforces YMCA policies and child safety
  • Leads planning for monthly departmental staff meetings and trainings
  • Takes the initiative to identify and act on problems, leading by example. Ensuring that member questions/complaints are met in a professional and caring manner
  • Develops, maintains and strengthens relationships and communication with parents and staff
  • Cross promotes membership, summer camp and youth programming
  • Carry out the branch vision of an extraordinary commitment to customer service and participant-driven, customer-friendly, practices and procedures
  • Actively seeks out and engages in community/organization collaborations 
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the charitable work of the YMCA and accepts a role in the activities and events of the YMCA annual campaign
  • Assists in preparing and administering annual operating budget 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises Kid’s Club Coordinator and 15-25 part-time Kid’s Club staff
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and staff team
  • Develop and oversee youth and family programs and ensure a quality experience
