Ready for the next step in your Y career?  Join the dynamic leadership team of Legacy YMCA as our next aquatic director.  This position is responsible of managing our current indoor and out door pool located on site, as well as leading our newest aquatic facility scheduled to open on Memorial Day 2024!

Qualifications

·         A bachelor’s degree, or background in a related field is required.

·         Two (2) or more years in aquatic supervision, pool operation, training and development of high performing teams is required.

·         Must have current Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED, First Aid and Swim Lesson Instructor certifications.

·         Ability to become certified Lifeguard Training Instructor and Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer certified within ninety (90) days of employment.

·         Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

·         Strong customer service skills.

·         Hands on experience with utilizing data to make an informed decision.

·         Personal commitment to service and hospitality.

Essential Functions

·         Lead branch Aquatics departments by providing direction, leadership, support, and efficiencies for team members through strategic planning, administrative standardization, registration, quality standards, and risk management according to the Legacy YMCA policies and procedures.

·         Ensures that daily care of members, teens and families is a key priority by showing leadership towards staff and volunteers in accordance with the organization’s mission and policies.

·         Recruit, hire, train and develop staff.

·         Prepare and conduct all in-services, trainings, and meetings.

·         Schedule and supervise lifeguards, swim instructors and other aquatic staff.  Fill in for absent staff as needed.  Help to secure subs as necessary.

·         Perform weekly safety checks and live drills as least 1 per month.

·         Input and set up department programs and activities in computer system in a timely basis to ensure YMCA member’s ability to register as needed.

·         Attend all weekly Leadership Team meetings.

·         Accountable for approving the Aquatics department’s payroll.

·         Coordinate develop and post seasonal pool schedules.

·         Coordinate, communicate and conduct special pool events for YMCA members and rental groups.

·         Inspect the premises daily for any hazardous conditions and report any findings to the Maintenance Director and the Chief Executive Officer.

·         Assist in development and implementation of the association Aquatics marketing plan and strategies.

·         Requires flexible hours to work evenings and weekends.  Must work during majority of scheduled swim lesson times.

·         Accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for execution of policies and procedures of the Association.

·         Assist in the budgeting process. 

·         Any other responsibilities deemed necessary by the Chief Executive Officer.

Required Certifications

Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Swim Lesson Instructor

Lifeguard Training Instructor and Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer within sixty (60) days of employment.
