POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Director of Fundraising at the YMCA of Middletown will work with the organization’s existing donor base, as well as cultivate new donors to ensure the YMCA of Middletown is is meeting annual goals for our financial assistance program. The Director of Fundraising will also be responsible to organize, implement and support several special events in which proceeds go to the Annual Support Campaign, better known as the Strong Kids Campaign. In addition, the Director of Fundraising will be responsible for all donor relations, including the management of all donor acknowledgments and recognition. The Director of Fundraising will work with a variety of foundations and funders to secure annual support, and ensure that all reporting requirements are fulfilled.
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with 3 or more years fundraising experience in leading & supporting annual giving campaigns and special events.
•Proven experience in cultivating and soliciting gifts of all sizes and types.
•Familiarity with the principles of annual campaign organization and marketing.
•Experience working closely with volunteers as well as assist with recruitment of volunteers for special events.
•Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills.
•Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, volunteers, senior leaders, and the general public.
•Understanding the mission of the YMCA and the impact we have on those we serve.
YMCA Team Leader certification preferred or willing to achieve.
1. Help create an annual campaign strategy for the Y in collaboration with executive leadership and committed volunteers.
2. Support YMCA staff and volunteers through training and coaching, to increase success with direct, face to face solicitation efforts.
3. Collaborate with executive leadership to develop communication and campaign strategies to successfully market the annual campaign. Support plans to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors.
4. Represent the Y through strong written communications, public speaking and articulate delivery of mission and fundraising needs.
5. Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors including 5 touch points through the year.
6. Oversee data management of annual gifts and conducts regular analysis and reporting of annual campaign progress.
7. Establish systems for timely and appropriate acknowledgments of annual campaign gifts.
8. Oversee prospect and donor correspondence.
9. Manage and submit select grant proposals, requested by CEO.
