Karyn Kirk

Karyn has functional oversight over legal and governance. She has administrative oversight over compliance, the human resources department and the certification of membership standards department. In her role, she also serves as the Assistant Secretary of the National Board of Directors and as liaison to both the National Committee on Membership Standards and co-staff liaison to the Board Development Committee of the National Board of Directors.

Prior to her current role, Karyn served as Associate General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer at Y-USA from 2007 to 2014, distinguishing herself with work in governance, risk management, intellectual property, brand management and legal counsel for various departments and initiatives.

Before returning to Y-USA in 2017, Karyn served as Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer at Florida International University in Miami from 2014 to 2017. There, she was responsible for all aspects of the university’s institutional compliance program.

Prior to Y-USA, Karyn served as Associate General Counsel at Sears Holding Company, Staff Attorney with Sally Beauty Company and Assistant District Attorney with the Denton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Karyn holds a juris doctor from Michigan State University College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Hampton University.
